From June 14 and 17, the Technical University of Valencia successfully hosted the 13th EAEC European Automotive Congress, which was attended by more than 400 automotive engineers and technicians from around the world. It was organized by the Society of Automotive Technicians (STA) and sponsored by the UPV itself, the Automotive Cluster of Valencia (AVIA), Ford, REDITA, the Institute of Design and Manufacturing, the Valencia Foundation for Quality, Tenneco and the Official Valencia Assosiation of Industrial Engineering.

The congress served as a presentation of the latest research and and innovation from both the manufacturers as well as related industries. The venue of Valencia provided an opportunity for the incorporation of projects with automotive manufacturing processes during the next six months of in three or four years, in the case of the most innovative projects

The event director and head researcher at the Institute of Design and Manufacturing, Josep Font, said that 180 papers were accepted among “over 300” submissions received from engineers around the world. The submissions were distributed at the event throughout eight half-hour parallel sessions during the three days of the congress.
These papers focused on five thematic areas: the engine and green technology, new control systems and new materials, vehicle dynamics, innovation in the manufacturing process and safety and human factor interaction.

In parallel with the plenary sessions, the conference also included an exhibition area where companies and institutions showed their latest developments. Among them, the IDF introduced a stand displaying their capabilities in automotion, among which was highlighted the system based on Quality Control by Artificial Vision and a Training Simulator for G-UPV Racing Drivers. Among the attending companies were AVIA, REDITA, IDIADA, Wiley Services Singapore, Tata Motors, Esi Group, IBV, AGFRA, Ochoa Industries and TTP, and the Galol Group.
